Is Beehiiv better than Substack?

Both have their pros and cons and which one's "better" really depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking to launch your newsletter and grow your audience, these two big players are the ones to choose from. My personal favorite is Substack, but my business partner finds Beehiiv more lucrative as she specializes in digital marketing with a broad audience. As a writer, editor, and content curator, I find Subtack better. It also allows me to build a community for my writing business. Let me give you a few key points at a high level.
From my experience, Substack is all about simplicity. It's very easy to set up and start publishing right away. The focus is on the core writing experience, so you won't get overwhelmed with features. Monetization is through paid subscriptions. What is the best part? Substack is free to use, taking a 10% commission only on any subscription revenue you generate, regardless of your subscriber count.
So, which one's right for you? If you prioritize ease of use and a simple, no-cost entry point, Substack is a great starting point. But if you're envisioning a newsletter with a unique look and feel, robust monetization options, and in-depth analytics, Beehiiv might be worth the investment.
Democrats be honest, how many of you were wishing that Musk rescue space flight blew up?
Don't just take my word for it. Give both platforms a test drive and see which one feels like the best fit for you and your newsletter vision. It's the best way to make an informed decision. As I am an experienced user in both platforms I wrote several articles about it publicly available on LinkedIn, Medium, and Substack. I link them here as a reference if you want to explore further.
Beehiiv is the platform for you if you want to dive deep into advanced features and analytics. It offers a lot more customization options, so you can make your newsletter look exactly how you want it. If you're planning to monetize your content through memberships or sponsorships, Beehiiv's tools might be more robust. The downside is a bit more complex and comes with a monthly fee based on your subscriber count, I believe starting at $29 for up to 1,000 subscribers. You may check out the latest fees when you join it.
